Storytime: Where is Russell Athletic from?

Russell Athletic was founded by founder Benjamin Russell in 1902 in Kentucky, USA, and is a subsidiary of the Fruit of the Loom brand, which also prints simple clothing at a reasonable price. Also starting out as an underwear producer, Russell Athletic created the first sweatshirt in 1920. From 1932, thanks to the acquisition of a new manufacturer, Russell Athletic was also able to produce sportswear such as jerseys, shirts, trousers and jackets for track and field, basketball, baseball and football. After Russell passed away in 1945, Russell Athletic became a clothing supplier to the military. In 1960, Russell Athletic became the largest manufacturer and distributor of athletic apparel throughout the United States, the company's name was changed to Russell Corporation in 1973, and the company also expanded into South America. In 1992, an official deal was struck with MLB teams and Russell Athletics became the exclusive outfitter until Nike took over the role in 2019. In the last decade, Russell Athletics has continued to expand, including to Europe, Australia, Japan and South Africa. Russell Athletic produces sportswear for teams in a wide range of sports such as football, basketball, baseball and volleyball in the major leagues and universities in the USA and Canada and provides them with shirts, jerseys and much more. Among other things, Russell Athletic is also a sponsor of several teams in the NFL. In the teamwear sector, Nike, Adidas and Under Armor are major competitors to Russell Athletic these days. Therefore, in June 2018, Russell Athletic announced a deal with its partner Augusta Sportswear for its own manufacturing facility.
